That's right! The long awaited new Streamer will be on the main site for download at 0000 GMT on Saturday 3/4/2006!! There are many changes. If you are a webcaster, you should take some screen shots or write down your configurations so they'll be easy to input into this shiny new release.

The new version does in fact support aac and aac+ from an external encoder. Internal playing is not supported at this time however due to limitations with the internal player module being used.

There will be a full posting of features and enhancements as well as bug fixes (what? there were bugs in 1.40?? ;)) on the Version History page of the main website coinciding with the release.

Hi,
Can i use Orban Opticodec-PC-SE with streamer for encoding AAC Plus?
If so how would i set it up to be used with streamer?
Sorry if i am off topic here but the encoder was a bit expensive for me.
I will be using DRS 2006 to broadcast with.

Thanks

AFAIK the Optimod can stream to a shoutcast server in AAC+ right ?

If so, it can stream to Streamerp2p in exactly the same way.

Hello All!

(Sorry to be feeble here , but I suppose this might be a 'transatlantic' issue....)

Just to be 100% clear... is the new version being released on April the 3rd (UK format: 03/04/2006) or March the 4th (US format 03/04/2006)?

Sorry to ask but I'm sure you'll appreciate it's important that I get it right!

Looking forward to it either way :D

Thanks everyone

Hello again everyone...

Sorry to put two posts but I cannot edit the one above for some reason...

I just thought of this while I was lying in bed (I know... I should get out more...):

When the new version is released, will the old one stop working immediately?

Or will it still be possible for listeners with the current version to listen to stations using the current version?

Sorry if the answers to this are obvious to everyone else, would appreciate an explanation in layman's terms!

Hi,
it's the fourth of march zero o'clock (GMT) (this saturday)

1.40 users can listen to 1.40 stations. The old version will work but all users should upgrade soon as possible. It's not possible to listen to stations using 1.42 with v.1.40 and vice versa.

To force the update all broadcasters should upgrade. There will be no support for 1.40 anymore.

If there are problems / bugs the first question should be "what version of streamer are you using at the moment". You can struggle with users for hours searching the problem why he/she can't tune in if you don't know that.
