Hi :)

Yesterday I tried the 1.34 version of Streamer. I saw the Testing Bandwidth message and I patiently waited... and waited.. and waited.. for exactly 15 minutes, after which Streamer decided that I had 5kbps available for the upload stream.
I'm using an ADSL connection 300kbps downstream, 128kbps upstream, so something was gone obviously wrong :)
I clicked on Retest, and after a few seconds, Streamer got the correct value.

Now, last night I was doing a live show with a friend of mine, and we noticed that a few listeners which lost the connection couldn't connect again because their Streamer began re-testing the bandwidth and it wouldn't stop. We knew this because they were telling us through a separate IRC chat channel, and they also began to shout "We want the older version back!!" :)

Are we the only ones who experienced this problem with the bandwidth test?

I hope I didn't sound harsh or rough, my English is not as rich as I would like it to be :)

SOme listening streamers started to re-test the bandwidth all by themselves, without the user going to the config screen and clicking on anything?. That is definitely not supposed to happen...
I am trying to think of another way to measure the upload bandwidth available continously. I plan to make streamer use a 'swarm' system, where the stream is downloaded from many places instead of one. With this is may be possible to avoid a startup bandwidth test.

One of those listeners told me yesterday that Streamer insisted on finding an upload stream of 27 kbps, so she couldn't listen to any station. She tried to force an upload stream of 33 kbps, and I guess that Streamer re-started the bandwidth test because the number was higher.

An endless loop began, and she got frustrated and wanted the older version back :)

Don't know about the other listeners, I know that one of them had an ADSL connection much faster than mine. Maybe he kept changing the upload stream number, I'll ask him as soon as I catch him online.
