Is it yet possible for listeners to receive Streamer P2P broadcasts by means of the standard Windows Media Player as well as, or instead of, the dedicated Streamer P2P player? If so, how is this achieved. If not, when, if ever, is this support likely to be included?

No it isn't, and it isn't ever going to be.

To stream to windoze media player directly without using Streamerp2p, use windows media server, and pay for the bandwidth it needs. If you want free video streaming you need p2p.

You can play a video stream being received by Streamerp2p in WMP by changing a setting, but that's not the same thing as WMP receiving the stream directly itself.

Hi. You mention video streams? I was only thinking of a listener being able to open my planned radio station audio in media player. I won't ever be transmitting video. I do remember reading reading that WMA files of a particular song are much larger in size than its equivalent MP3, so guess this additional file size equates to audio quality which in turn requires the higher bandwidth. I am not bothered what player is used to listen to my stream, just as long as the listener can hear it. The only thing that does bother me is whether most potential listeners might be put off from listening if they need to download and install a player which they are not familiar with or do not already have on their computer. Still, I'm sure that those running all the stations currently using streamer must have plenty of listeners and this proves people will take the time to download and install the player if they want to listen badly enough. Incidentally, where would the setting you speak of be altered in order to play in WMP? Would this setting be in Media Player, or in the Streamer station software.

Hope I didn't offend by asking something that other members may already know about, but I am not very technical and have so many unanswered questions. I'll try not to ask any more.

If you are using mp3 or ogg format your listeners don't need any additional programs. Streamer is using the internal player for this kind of streams by default. It only opens a external audio player if you change the configuration. [Config] / Audio / "Use external player for Ogg / MP3 streams".
