Hi,

did anybody already think about building a Flash client for streamerp2p? The flash player is already installed on 98% of computers connected to the internet. Building a flash client would solve the problem of downloading the streamerp2p player. Even if streamerp2p player is small (less than 200Ko), a lot of people doesn't want to install new software on their computer.

I already imported live stream into a flash animation but I am specially interested in doing it with streamerp2p to save my bandwith.

If anybody is interested in the co-development.

Let me know at:

Macromedia flash does live content encoding? I thought it was only for static files.

Hi Sankt,

Sorry to say that but you are wrong. It also works with LIVE content. You just have to import the stream into a LoadSound function just as if you import an on-demand mp3 file.

hi,
i'm no flash expert but i don't think that macromedia flash is able to make socket connects, or open udp or tcp sockets. So you can't realize a flash streamer client cause you can't create a p2p network with it. No one can connect to the flash client. It's no P2P streaming!

If flash is able to do this it's interresting to hear, but i think no

Maybe it's possible with some perl scripts in the background and flash for the GUI but that will be slow cause it needs much cpu time on server (especially free hoster don't allow such scripts).

bye

You would have to download the modified flash player instead :-).
This already involves at least one mouse click. Downloading/install/run streamer takes three clicks at the moment
