I think you'll find that the price of these products is too $$$$ for the typical
Streamer user. Since nobody is making any money (that i'm aware of) by streaming their music, I think these packages are #1 too expensive and #2 Overkill

Yes u may be right. I am only interested in these things ´cause sometimes one can find a "running demo" or something like this. :-)
Overkill is an Argument, but - smile - for my pirate radio I never would buy software - thats true....

Once I tried Ots - I really love his limiter/compression functions. The possibilitys in creating playlists are stunning - but I dont want to compress my mp3s in ots format. And also the title updates are not supported.
Once I have seen a lttle proggy only for starting playlists in winamp. I can´t remember the name, it was someshing like "Auto-Playlist-BlaBLa".

I know there are more automation things outhere and only want to have an overview. I am sure that otheres are also interested in getting some infos.

Here is some input . . . .

Continuos automated musical play list generator for windows / linux
( And its Free :D )
Longplayer : http://lplayer.sourceforge.net

To time schedule the play of specific audio files -
like station Identification or promo's, try this. ( Free Also :D )
Windows Scheduler : http://www.splinterware.com/products/wincron.htm

The only problem with this combination is, instead of the music fading out prior to the specific audio file being played, the music will abruptly stop playing and the specific audio file will start playing.

If there was a way to some how specify music fade out prior to the break in music - that would be a much added plus and more proffessional sounding.

One last thing - only a minor one though - the possible need for continous logging of files played. A script of some sort probably could be hashed out to log date / time / file name of a entire days / week / month broadcast. This should be easy by reading the xml output and time stamping it using the onboard time / date clock of the loging computer

Hope this helps. If you do think up a hack to fade out music prior to the break - by all means post the results here - would be most benificial to all.

Cheers :)

SAMv1.3 (Streaming Audio Manager)

Please note that SAMv1.3 is no longer officially supported and will be discontinued completely by December 2002.
Everybody should switch over to SAM2 by that time...

I tried Longplayer but it has too many bugs right now (Windows version)... When the bugs are gone it will be a great tool.

Deltatrax http://www.deltatrax.nl is a (presently) free radio automation system for Windows. I'm testing it now and it's really good but has no streaming output, you have to take the signal from the soundcard. I use line-in plugin in winamp for this.

Web Jockey Pro Lt

You can download a fully working - time limited demo and the instruction manual

-24 hour and date aware with TimeSync
-Auto, Live Assist or Manual modes of operation
-Comes with music scheduling software
-Built in Audio Mixer and Jock Box
-No special or expensive sound cards needed
-Works with 98se, XP and 2000 operating systems

The time limit might be overcome by playing around with computer date

This is a good one!
WRS - Winamp Radio Scheduler

From the author's web site:

Why is it free ? because software, is not supposed to be sold, in my opinion. i created wrs simply 'cause i needed it. at my radio station there was no program to manage winamp while i could not be at home. listeners requested different songs and programs all the time. for three years i have studied various broadcast automation software and found nothing i liked. the closest to heaven was AIRMIX from SBZ Soft. it was nice, but it has a problem... you cannot create very large playlists like in winamp (mine has > 6500 mp3's). another nice proggie is DRS 2006. too complicated to use, though... same large playlist problem like in AIRMIX. the computers at my radio station are a AMD K6-2 @ 400 MHz and an Intel Celeron @ 600 MHz. both of them are low memory machines. the only program to make excellent gapless crossfades is winamp. it can also handle extremely large playlists so there is nothing to worry about.

I tested Winamp Radio Scheduler and found out that v. 1.11a Release 2 has problems with the job scheduling. It works in v. 1.10 though.

WRS would sometimes launch null jobs with no files bringing WINAMP to a halt. This has now been corrected and the new patch is available as "WRS 1.11 RELEASE 4". Download it here: http://wrs.visionfm.go.ro/dwlds.html
