Hello Developers!

Somewhere in the Forum stands something about embedding scripts in the stream. I had some fun with that years ago in windows-media player and as long as I know this is the only player which supports that.

I programmed once a windows genie figure which was controlled by the scripts of a wma file.

I did not find out how to get WMP work with streamer. Maybee in the meantime the Realmediaplayer supports scripts too - who knows?

I really do like any kind of interactivity, the chat is the first step.
Is it possible to generate a own channel for each station and one for all?

Since we are all using diffrent players it would be a nice thing to have this kind of interactiviy embedded in streamer. A Text Field for sending a Text like lyrics and stuff and another for sending a picture URL would be fine.
A third for putting in a URL like Bandhomepage whould be very pretty.
Maybe it would be nice to save it down in a kind of text file for later use...

Maybe in the future it is possible to embedd something like songrequesterplug? Or a - show the last and the next five songs - function?

Hi,

there is a general chat for all users. If you tune into a station a new chat button appears and that's only for people tuned into this station.

many things you can do with dosomething and the station info.
Since it can be html code you can automatic load your website in streamer and with dosomething and a few selfmade scripts you can realize nice features.

By the way i think most users don't want active content served with the audio stream. It's kind of dangerous if you allow to execute code you get with a stream. It can be very dangerous because window is a big security hole you know. There are many buffer overflow bugs.

ok bye 8)

You will be able to do things like lyrics, dynamic pics or anything else a web page could do, when I finish the 'web site embedded in stream' thing. It's only a quick hack at the moment.
The pages themselves can't have scripts, but they can be generated by a script or a program, and saved to the folder where you keep the source for the embedded site. Streamer will detect updated files and send them out. Javascript in pages may just work, but I'd recommend against it as its introducing something that does not work on all pc's, including mine. It's being displayed inside another program and not by a normal web browser, and it can be made to crash by doing 'clever' tricks.

you can see some of the viewer window's capability by viewing the info on my Planet Texas site. The viewer alternates between the Planet Texas welcome screen and the song info page that displays the current song, time remaining, and any upcoming requests. And a link to the request page. This feature really top's other P2P streaming app's. Very nice.
