I have seen a US gov site about Panama before. It bore little resemblance to reality.
I arrived in the middle of the independence centenary celebrations, with 1000's of people on the streets. Hardly any sign of police, and no crowd trouble at all. If this was the UK there would have been 1000's of police trying to 'control' the crowds and tell them where they couldn't go, and also herds of drunk shorthair morons fighting.
Which is the more civilised country?
There is also a 'macro' style warehouse chain that is allowed to sell food etc direct to the public (at < 50% of UK retail prices}, something that is actually illegal in the uk {to help prop up small retailers, supposedly}. You know how hard it is for ordinary ppl to get a macro membership card in the UK.
AAgain, which is the more civilised country :-}
