That depends on what you are going to be using to record the event.

is the event being recorded directly to PC , or a seperate recorder, then put into your pc?

if the later, all you need is a way to convert the format to mp3.

for those types of files I use DB POWER AMP, it is great for encoding to lame either CBR OR VBR and also has a nice track/tag editing feature.

once encoded into mp3 or LAME it should play in winamp.

I would like to be able to help you, I think you only need a line in jack on eyr sound card and any recording device in yer PC, maybe search pc recording tools there should be some free ones, once thats done it generally will be a wave file,
simply convert the WAV file to an mp3 file, lots of free conversion tools out there to,
I recommened DB POWER AMP, its not free but has a free trial , then is only $14.00 for life,
I use that to rip, convert edit tags etc....it also has verynice MP3lame encoder in it, works very well and is easy to use.
Once converted to an MP3 then it should play in any media player, winamp, sam WMP etc....

hope this helps a bit.

Search around for something called mp3directcut. THat should do fine for recording and will record directly to mp3 format. I think one place you can find it is on www.soundsolution.it
